How to Check EPF Balance Online – Different Ways

Few years back it was a difficult task to know your EPF Balance and you were supposed to just calculate it yourself. But now with efforts of EPFO there are numerous ways of checking your EPF balance. One can check PF account balance, online or through mobile. We will discuss all these methods to check balance of PF account in details.

Check EPF balance Online (The old way)

This was the only method to check EPF balance online before UAN was introduced. Previously with this you could see only last balance on year end, but now it shows monthly updated balance. It also shows employer and employee contribution separately and pension fund too.

✅ How to Check EPF Balance Oline

1. Visit http://epf-india.co.in/epf-balance/
2. Scroll Down and click on link “Click Here to Know Your PF Balance”

3. A new link will open in new window. Here choose the state where your company PF account is registered. Select EPFO office. On next screen enter your PF account Number, Name and Mobile Number. Click on I agree and Submit.

4. If all details are correct you will get your PF balance in your mobile through SMS.

✅ EPF Balance by UAN Activation

You must be aware what is UAN? It is the universal account number issued to every EPF member by EPFO. Even an unemployed person can also get UAN. You can get your UAN from your employer or you can generate your UAN yourself. Once you have activated your UAN you get monthly SMS from EPFO regarding contribution in PF account and balance in your PF account.

1. Check EPF balance at UAN Portal

If you failed to check SMS and want to know your PF balance instantly anytime you can easily check it at UAN portal. For this you have to first login at UAN portal and then click on Download Passbook.

You can see your PF balance here in your UAN e-Passbook. Here you can see employer contribution, employee contribution and total.

Below this you see monthly contribution of both employer and employee.

If you do not have UAN activated you can still download EPF e-Passbook at EPF portal.

✅ Check PF balance through SMS

You can get your PF balance on your mobile through SMS. For this you must first register your mobile number with EPFO. For this you have to send SMS to “7738299899”

For registration send SMS in format <EPFOHO ACT, “12 digit UAN”, “22 digit EPF Member ID”>

To check EPF balance send SMS in format <EPFOHO UAN <ENG> here ENG is language. You can change language. EPFO supports 10 Indian languages.

✅ Check PF balance through Missed Call

This is the easiest method to check PF balance instantly. Just give a missed call from your registered mobile number to 01122901406. You will get your EPF balance at your mobile through SMS. This facility is free of cost too.

Why you should check your EPF balance regularly?

PF is your retirement money. You should always keep a check on this. You can take loan from EPFO in case of emergency, so you should be aware of balance in your account. Sometimes the employer does not deposit Provident funds on time. In this case your account balance stop growing. Moreover if company is closed then you may not get the EPF contribution of employer. So it is always advised to keep a watch on your PF account.
